Description
About the software:
The simulators emulate the main technical specifications of popular equipment used in commercial studios. These specifications include full signal flow path (assignments, monitoring, aux send, returns, etc.), nominal levels, meters, equalizers, and full interconnections between the console and peripheral equipment. For example, with our digital console simulator students are able to access internal sound processes, set up groups and stereo pairs, handle different layers of channels, memorize scenarios, and more. The student can also browse through different pages of the display and manipulate these screens in the same manner as a real digital mixer.
The purpose of the simulators:
1) To prepare students before they go into the studio. Through our tutorials the students can learn everything about how to handle the equipment before they begin using studio time. The tutorials guide the students through the connections between tools, understanding signal flow, setting up the studio for different working scenarios (recording, post-production, etc.) or browsing through and experimenting with digital console pages. Since most studios impose restrictions on students' use and experimentation, this experience is a valuable resource.
2) To improve the efficiency of audiovisual classes. Audiovisual techniques can effectively be taught in the computer lab Using Sim-AV applications. Each student can follow the steps of the teacher on their own computer, at their own pace and level. It is also very helpful for students to be able to practice freely outside of class.
Sim-AV summary
Classes can be held in computer labs where each student work with their own simulator.
Students are well prepared before they go into the studio and can use the equipment safely and efficiently.
Students can complete assignments and practice in computer labs or from their homes.
Students can at all times have access to a wider range of equipment than any department can house.
